Staybridge Suites in Stow Ohio Review
The entire space has a home away from home vibe- it feels less like an extended-stay motel and more like an apartment. (And sometimes the smell of frying fish confirms that!)
The Staybridge Suites Stow has a fitness room, pool, and a small store with extremely costly beverages and snacks. If you’re looking for a restaurant on the hotel grounds itself, you’ll be disappointed. There is no on-property sit-down restaurant or room service here. However, you can head down the road and pick up some burgers and hot dogs and grill in the area outside. Options like grilling and an in-room kitchen are ideal for us, as with our son’s autism, we often avoid sit-down restaurants. We love stocking familiar foods in our fridge and preparing them in the room.
Our family usually ends the day with swimming, which is an excellent sensory activity for our whole family. Unfortunately, at our last visit- we learned that they used concrete to fill in the hot tub! Alas, the pool remains, but it is cold unless it is hot outside. We went in February at this last visit, and unless you are incredibly enthusiastic about
In Stow Ohio, the Staybridge Suites is a valuable hotel for larger families looking to stay in one suite together. While the decor is mainly brown tones, the design is fresh and in good condition. The lobby feels welcoming, and the staff is friendly. We have found that it is excellent for families of children with autism or sensory needs. It also is appropriate for those traveling for business and looking for a full kitchen.
Staybridge Suites One Bedroom Suite (with King bed)
There are several types of suites: studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom suites. They come in configurations with two beds or one king bed.
When you walk into the suite, the kitchen is immediately visible. The kitchen comes with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and dishwasher. There are pyrex containers, large utensils, silverware, plates, bowls, and cups.
Across from the kitchen is a large desk with room to spread out your work. I love Staybridge Suites when I need to work. There is plenty of room for a laptop, and the Wi-Fi connection is decent and free.
The living area features a sofa that turns into a double bed and oversized television. There is plenty of additional seating. I often drag one of the living room lamps over to the desk for lighting. Unfortunately, the rooms lack a view- the windows look out over the parking lot.
The sleeping quarters are separated from the living room with double doors and feature a spacious king bed. However, there is no privacy from children (or in-laws) on the sofa. Unfortunately, the bathroom is located directly off of the bedroom. If you’d prefer to avoid walking through the bedroom to use a restroom, I would suggest getting a two-bedroom suite.
The bathroom features a tub with a showerhead that is perfect for families with small children. There is always plenty of towels. For our family of six, this is indispensable!
Outside the bathroom, you will find a one-person sink. Allowing a grown-up to shower in a locked bathroom is excellent for a large family bustling around and getting ready in the morning.
The Staybridge Suites is a hotel that is the perfect little home away from home. We have stayed here multiple times and always encountered friendly staff at check-in. You can choose between a studio, one or two bedrooms. The one-bedroom (with a king bed) is the suite featured in this article.
Staybridge Suites Amenities
Whether you have a picky child or kiddo with special needs like autism, we love the convenience of having various food choices nearby. There are a ton of local restaurants! The fitness center has enough cardio machines and weights to squeeze in a workout.
We always enjoy our stay at the Staybridge Suites in Stow, Ohio. It is relatively close to Akron City hospital, the University of Akron, family-friendly vineyards, Blossom Music Center, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We actually fell in love with High Bridge Glens in Cuyahoga Falls. Check out this gorgeous winter view.
What is Staybridge Suites like during COVID-19?
Following COVID-19, life is WEIRD! Every Staybridge Suites that I’ve stayed at provides snacks, drinks, and plenty of amenities. We have always found the evening appetizers to be relaxing. Unfortunately, the reception is only available on weekdays, and the food varies each day. Many of the appetizer options can double as dinner. In the past, we have enjoyed baked potatoes, chili, and salad bars. They also offer a few bottles of wine or a couple of domestic draft beers, depending on the time that you go. During COVID-19, this is suspended!Â
Each morning brings a breakfast feast. There are four different kinds of cereal with milk. Also, there is a continental bar with yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and cottage cheese. Finally, if you’re looking for hot entrées, the Staybridge Suites provide a variety of breakfast items. There are two hot entrées in chafing dishes: egg, bacon or sausage, breakfast burritos. There is a waffle maker, toast, and bagels, oatmeal with toppings if you’re into gluten. As if that is not enough, we enjoyed coffee, juice, soda. During COVID-19, this is completely different!
