DuckTales World Showcase Adventure on Play Disney App

While many people are attracted to Epcot for the fast-paced rides or futuristic attractions, a few of us love the nostalgia of a flip phone that sets off events in the World Showcase. However, while the history of this attraction is well documented, the future of the current iteration of the World Showcase Adventure is FINALLY here. Epcot’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure opened in December of 2022.

Is the World Showcase Adventure Good for Disney World Guests with Autism?

Yes, it provides a set routine and way for guests with autism to explore the countries of Epcot’s World Showcase. From our personal review, my son can ignore the crowds while becoming engrossed in the adventure game. However, there were sometimes crowds in the areas where these attractions are. Other potential downfalls include that it may involve heat, lots of walking, and playing longer than intended. While sometimes the mechanical interactions are loud, they are very engaging.

What was Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure?

Before it was Agent P’s, Kim Possible’s World Showcase Adventure issued guests flip phones, known as Kimmunicators, to communicate with Wade and beat a slew of bad guys. When it closed, Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure opened. Agent P incorporated guest cell phones in 2016 and became part of the Play Disney Parks app in 2018. However, there was a time when you could use either the flip phone or the app for Agent P’s.

Each showcase country features Phineas, Ferb, and Perry on vacation with their family. Many of the mechanical interactions from Kim Possible carried over to this attraction (and will presumably continue in future iterations). Whether you’re locating singing steins in Germany, reading hidden messages in Mexico, or retrieving a sample of Chai tea in the United Kingdom, you are undoubtedly saving the world.

What’s Happened to the Old World Showcase Adventures?

Interestingly, Disney has historically retired each World Showcase Adventure attraction within a few years after it goes off the air. Kim Possible went off the air in 2007 and closed in 2012. The Phineas & Ferb show ended in 2015 and closed in 2020. The original DuckTales ended in 1990, and the reboot ended in 2021. It’s questionable how long this experience will be around.

When did Kim Possible’s World Showcase Adventure Close?

Kim Possible’s World Showcase Adventure opened in January 2009 and closed all Kimmunicators (or flip phones) on May 17, 2012. As much as I loved it, it was behind the times since Kim Possible ended in 2007.

When did Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure open and close?

Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure opened soon after the close of Kim Possible’s World Showcase Adventure (June 2012) and closed in February 2020. However, Phineas and Ferb went off the air in 2015, so it is a bit surprising that it lasted this long.

What Replaced Phineas & Ferb in Epcot?

Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure in Epcot closed in February 2020 and was supposed to be replaced with DuckTales World Showcase Adventure the following month. Unfortunately, there is no more Phineas and Ferb in Epcot.

A Last Note About the World Showcase Adventure

For those of you who miss Agent P in Epcot, we are with you! Who will stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz? We will miss Perry the Platypus (er Agent P) ziplining across building tops in Epcot (RIP)! We have loved this scavenger hunt through all its iterations: Kim Possible’s World Showcase Adventure and Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure. This is the perfect way for adults to stroll through World Showcase while their kiddos remain occupied.

We are so happy it returned! While Ducktales isn’t a ride, it brings back tourists’ favorite parts of Epcot. What are your thoughts?
